Third grade students at West DeFuniak Elementary learned about watershed and the importance of smooth cord grass absorbing pollutants and protecting our local waters. These students are learning about the Choctawhatchee Bay as a part of the Grasses in Classes program provided by the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance. Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

Freeport Middle School art and band students attended a special "Music in Pictures" presentation sponsored by the Rosemary Beach Foundation. Two violinists presented music and art history to the students. The Foundation brings music to the art students of Walton County, culminating in an art show and celebration of art and music in the Spring. Submitted by Chelsea Ellison.

At the November 15, 2016, Regular School Board Meeting a representative from EMI Elliot Marshal Innes, Mr. Brad Innes, AIA President/Principal, presented Superintendent Carlene Anderson and Board Member Mark Davis with an artwork collage of building projects that have been developed over the last 15-20 years for Walton County School District. The Superintendent and Walton County School Board Members recognized and presented the Freeport High School Girls Volleyball Team for Honorable Sportsmanship with a resolution. Mr. Hope introduced the Freeport High Girls Volleyball Team that was in attendance; Catherine Meyer, Coach, Katherine Deems, Assistant Coach, Monica Morgan, Freshman, and Isabella Guardia, Freshman. The Resolution was read by Chairperson Jason Catalano. The Freeport Girls Volleyball Team were competing on Thursday, September 22, 2016 against Bozeman High School from Panama City, Florida, during the game an medical emergency occurred with one of the Bozeman Team members.
