Okaloosa and Bay County Sheriff Department Bomb Squads have officially cleared Walton High School. Although a student announced they had a bomb, no bomb was ever observed or located.

Now that the building is cleared, all WHS students are moving from their relocation site (the WISE Center) back to the Walton High School campus.

The Walton County School District wants to thank our local community partners, especially the Walton County Sheriff’s Department, DeFuniak Springs Police Department, and Walton County Emergency Management as well as the bomb squads who assisted us. We want to thank our parents for entrusting us with your children.  Through that trust, we were able to effectively activate our safety plans to protect our students and staff. We also want to commend our students and staff who responded to this threat in a professional and calm manner.

Safety is our number one priority in the Walton County School District. Rest assured that the student who made the threat and any future threats will be treated with the upmost seriousness and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Parents please help us convey this message to your children.
