Each day, Walton Middle School teachers intentionally design learning opportunities for students that align with the AVID WICOR philosophy--a model that guides students in comprehending concepts and articulating ideas at increasingly complex levels. On Friday, August 23rd, Mrs. Alison Shoaf designed a math fluency bell ringer that required students to collaborate with each other. Her students exhibited teamwork, supporting each other's learning through shared responsibility, shared ideas, and shared discussion. Developmentally, middle school students thrive when given the opportunity to express their ideas with their peers. In Mrs. Shoaf's class, like many others, the WICOR way is evident each and every day.
