2024-25 English Language Arts Adoption

During the May 20, 2025, School Board meeting, we submitted recommended materials for our K-12 English Language Arts (ELA), Personal Financial Literacy and Money Management adoption. However, the company selected for K-5 ELA failed to be approved by the Florida Department of Education for adoption. Because Amplify/CKF did not make the Florida Department of Education’s adoption list, we are submitting the ELA program that was our second-choice for adoption – Florida Benchmark Advance, 2026 by Benchmark Education Company.

A public hearing will be scheduled and held on April 7, 2026, to receive comments on the recommended material prior to its adoption. The district has maintained electronic access for the public’s review on the district website since March 6, 2026. In addition, print copies of the materials are available for review from 8:00 – 3:45 at the Tivoli Administrative Complex, located on 145 Park Street, Suite 5, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

During the April 21, 2026, School Board meeting, the recommended materials will be submitted to the School Board for adoption.

2025-26 Florida Instructional Materials’ K-12 Health and Physical Education, Performing and Visual Arts, World Languages; 9-12 Career and Technical Education and 6-12 Additional English Language Arts Adoption

On January 6, 2026, Walton County School District’s textbook adoption committee met to review instructional materials submitted to the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) for the 2025-26 Florida Instructional Materials adoption for the K-12 Health and Physical Education, Performing and Visual Arts, World Languages, 9-12 Career and Technical Education and 6-12 Additional English Language Arts. The meeting was held from 8:00 – 3:00 at the Carlene H. Anderson Training Facility located at 555 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. The meeting was open to the public.

A print copy of each submission may be accessed in Professional Development Center building at the Tivoli Administrative Complex, 145 Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL. Materials will be available for review beginning January 15, 2026, from 8:00 – 3:45PM. Please call 850-892-1100, extension 1548 to set-up an appointment to access the materials.

In addition, the publishers have provided web links to their associated student edition and these links may be utilized to view the submitted materials.
