Over 1,000 5th graders from Okaloosa and Walton County were guests of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra as they performed “The Chenoo Who Stayed for Dinner” by Peter Schickele at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center today! Jeffrey Rink conducted the orchestra, and founding NFSO conductor, John Leatherwood, performed the narration of “The Chenoo Who Stayed For Dinner,” by Peter Schickele. This is an annual event sponsored by the NFSO, and a great opportunity for students to see and hear a live symphony orchestra in performance. Special guest performer was 10 year old violinist, Kyle Richardson, Junior Division winner of the NFSO Concerto competition in performance of the 1st movement of Mozart’s G major violin concerto.

Congratulations to Freeport Middle School students Lily Stacy and Paisley McCormick for their 1st and 2nd place awards in the Picture the Music art contest sponsored by Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra!!!
