Open Door Grant Program

The Open Door Grant Program helps students at Florida College System institutions cover the cost of enrolling in career and technical education (CTE) programs that lead to a credential, certificate, or degree.

For eligible students at Emerald Coast Technical College (ECTC), the Open Door Grant can cover:

  • 100% of tuition and fees

  • Assessment costs

Awards are applied after federal, state, or third-party funds and are subject to availability of funding. Returning students are given priority over new applicants. Funds are available on an ongoing basis through June 30, 2026, or until depleted.

  • Electricity

  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 1

  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 2

  • Master Automotive Service Technology 1

  • Master Automotive Service Technology 2

  • Network Support Services

  • Patient Care Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician

  • Plumbing

  • Practical Nursing

  • Welding Technology

  • Welding Technology – Advanced

  • Phlebotomy

How to Qualify
Students may be awarded the Open Door Grant based on enrollment in an eligible CTE program and institutional review. A separate application may not be required.

Optional Interest Form 

Declining Open Door Funding
Students who are awarded Open Door funding and choose not to accept it must notify the Financial Aid Office. Declining this funding means the student is responsible for any applicable tuition and fees.
