Magnet Innovation Center: A Vision Realized

mic students walking into building

Launched in 2019 by Superintendent A. Russell Hughes and the Walton County School Board, in partnership with the St. Joe Foundation, the Magnet Innovation Center is more than a building, it’s a proving ground for the next generation of thinkers, creators, and world-changers. At the MIC, imagination becomes invention. Curiosity becomes capability, and great ideas take shape, come to life, and become solutions.

Built around the way the world actually works, the Magnet Innovation Center immerses students in high-tech, hands-on, project-based learning that mirrors the environments of tomorrow’s leading industries. Here, students design, engineer, code, prototype, and create as they tackle real challenges with real tools and real purpose. Every experience is built to develop the skills that drive innovation: collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, resilience, and the ability to turn bold ideas into reality.

From advanced STEAM pathways to breakthrough projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible, students at the MIC aren’t simply preparing for the future — they’re building it.

The Magnet Innovation Center is where the next generation of innovators begins their journey.
