About the Magnet Innovation Center

Launched in 2019 by Superintendent A. Russell Hughes and the Walton County School Board, in partnership with the St. Joe Foundation, the Magnet Innovation Center is where imagination meets engineering and ideas turn into innovation. Designed as a launchpad for the next generation of creators and problem-solvers, the MIC immerses students in high-tech, hands-on, project-based learning that mirrors real industry environments. From advanced STEAM pathways to bold, future-facing projects, students don’t just study concepts—they build, design, code, and engineer solutions with real-world impact. Every project sharpens the skills that modern innovators rely on: collaboration, critical thinking, rapid prototyping, and strategic problem-solving. With a commitment to preparing students for elite colleges, emerging technologies, and careers that don’t yet exist, the Magnet Innovation Center is shaping the trailblazers who will define the future.
