Dr. Richard Thomas, D.D.S., presented a character re-enactment of the famous Wild West dentist/law-man “Doc” Holliday at Maude Saunders Elementary school and Paxton School. The visit was sponsored by the Florida Chautauqua Association as part of their Winter Assembly educational activities. Dr. Thomas brought with him several original artifacts from the life of James Henry “Doc” Holliday, to include period dental tools, and Holliday’s actual foot-powered pedal drill. He also had with him Holliday's appointment "book," an ivory fan with one blade per day of the week on which appointments were penciled in. The book includes traces of Holliday's handwriting.
