When "Martha Speaks", kids listen! Every week, Maude Saunders fourth graders team up with a Kindergarten “buddy” to watch an episode of "Martha Speaks", an educational show on PBS. The children learn new words as they laugh at the adventures of Martha the talking dog and her friends. The fourth graders then read a story that goes along with the lessons learned in the show. Together they create a project and learn new vocabulary words, as they discuss the story and the lessons learned. Maude Saunders Reading Coach Sonya Merchant teamed up with WFSU to bring this extraordinary opportunity to the school, and both the “big buddies” and the “little buddies” agree it is an adventure every week. A special "Martha Speaks" celebration will be held at the school on the evening of March 22nd. All MSE Kindergarten and fourth grade students are invited to come spend time with their buddy, participate in reading activities, and meet the real Martha! The students are fourth grader Kazeric Freeman and Kindergartener Keaton Ward
