Take the Lead…Read! Celebrate Literacy, Florida at Freeport Elementary! Students at FES enjoyed a week of exciting activities centered on Literacy. They participated in the Million Minute Marathon by reading 20 minutes on Monday. Outstanding readers visited daily on the Morning Show to give the students successful reading strategies guaranteed to “REVVV” up their reading. K-1st graders received an official “Reader’s License” giving them the rights to read a variety of books. 2nd-4th graders participated in an AR race reading over one million words. Each class designed and built a shoe box car to display their class’s three favorite books at the Car Show/Book Swap. Students were encouraged to bring in outgrown or previously read books and swap them for a new book. Several car enthusiasts brought in their cars and motorcycles and shared their love of reading with the students at the Car Show/Book Swap.
