Walton County School District Influenza Task Force
In May, 2009, Superintendent Carlene Anderson established the Walton County School
District Influenza Task Force and charged this group with the responsibility to
collaborate with local agencies in monitoring influenza activity and to develop
an action plan to ensure a healthy environment for Walton County Schools. The Task
Force developed the following action statements to provide direction to district
departments and schools during this influenza (flu) outbreak.
The Influenza Task Force:
- will collaborate with the Walton County Department of Health, Department of Education
and other local, state, and federal agencies to secure the most recent information,
- will provide school administrators with an action plan to include teacher and staff
directives,
- will provide prevention information to school administrators, teachers, other employees,
parents, and students,
- will communicate informational updates through the use of local media, Walton County
School District website, and the email system,
- will use school nurses to monitor student health data from school clinics and communicate
that information to the central Health Services Manager,
- will work with the Walton County Health Department to set up vaccination schedules
at area schools as vaccine becomes available,
- will provide germicide to classrooms and other areas of the school for student and
employee use,
- and will review School Board Policy and Florida State Statutes concerning school
closures in the event it becomes necessary.
