Grants

Development Department

GrantsThe term “grants” refers to funding sources to benefit a specific purpose or need.  Grants or funding sources can be from many different sources but are usually categorized as public or private.  Public grant sources refer to government and public funding sources (USDOE, FDOE, etc…).  Private grant sources usually refer to corporate, foundation, and organization funding sources.

How Do Schools Locate Funding Sources?

The  WCSD Grants Development Department provides each school with a list of funding sources “Year At-A-Glance” and “Focus Area At-A-Glance” at this website under “Grant Resources”.

How Do Schools Apply?

Schools can apply for grants directly to the funding source.  The district provides assistance.  All school level grants must be approved by the principal and approved by the school board.  (see What to do next)

What services does the Walton County School District Grants

Development Department provide to schools?

The WCSD Grants Development Department disseminates grant opportunities to schools and departments, provides assistance with grant proposals and budget development, obtains required district signatures, acquires School Board approvals, and maintains data on grant proposal submissions and funding activity in the district.

Who Signs My Grant Application Forms?

On most school level grants, the principal’s signature will be requested. However, if forms request the signature of the applicant’s “Agency Head”, “Authorized Representative”, “Chief Executive Officer”, or “Executive Director”, the Superintendent of Schools is the only authorized official that can be signed on behalf of the schools.
